i've never made such a hasty decision before. i just made a last minute decision last night. rmb i mentioned that the sisters wanted to go to las vegas and i didn't want to? anyway last night they were discussing with our guy fren in their room (the "organiser", cos this wk's his last at KD, and he's travelling to vegas then to other places when we return to richmond) and i heard the part about going to california and LA, and it sparked my interest. and b4 tt i was feeling pretty sad and left out cos all ard me ppl were planning trips even b4 ending work, cos we can take block leave and many plan to visit many places outside of virginia even tho aft work they're still travelling for quite a no. of days, and given that we only have 5 days b4 flying home (which is by far the shortest travel time i've discovered among everyone i've talked to), i was sad tt there wasn't any opportunity for me to visit anywhere other then NY. so i jumped at the chance, since they were not gonna spend 4 days in vegas. i immediately went to fill my DOR (days off request) form, and today i handed it in. i was stressing and worrying abt how to get my leave approved, and how i had to find replacements for my shifts. fortunately it got approved even tho it's quite last min, only 1 wk's notice instead of the usual 2 wks, but my supervisor said it's my first time requesting block leave so he'll approve it. thankfully, cos we had to book the air tix tonight. they didn't book last night cos wanted to wait for me.
so anyway the point is, i'll be travelling from 23 to 27 june, which is mon to fri. then working sat and sun. jian wei (the guy i said is the organiser) did all the research and booking, and the cheapest we got currently is $430. they said last night it was $350. :( it's inflating by the minute! anyway it can only be confirmed when he calls tmr, but our tix are reserved. forgot to ask which airline, but shd b ok. it's a round trip, from richmond airport to las vegas airport. will let u guys know the details when i have them. we plan to visit LA for 1 day, grand canyon and california. and las vegas prob the first and last day. we'll be renting a car and driving btn states, and it's ironic cos tho jian wei is 22, he passed LATER THAN ME, in aug 2006. i passed july 2006! so by right i shd b the most experienced driver. lol. and i think he passed on second time -_______- previously when i went to williamsburg, the driver Xiao Ling, 22, passed on third time -__________- maybe this time i'll try my hand at driving too, to share the load cos he'll be tired driving for hours on end. but i won't drive at night. anyway in case u don't know, SG license is international. china's is not. and i was thinking of gg to niagara falls, the canada side, but somebody told me we can't re-enter the USA then. so if we go from NY after work, we'll prob only be gg to the USA side.
they are super inefficient. my Wachovia card came like weeks ago, but my PIN hasn't arrived despite my emailing and calling the hotline. i think i have to make a trip down personally soon. i'm just too lazy to call and scold. many of my frens have applied for Bank of America too, and i'm wondering whether i shd cos there's a recommendation bonus of $20 for the new acct holder and $25 for the referer. and BOA can be used in SG too, so prob won't be as cui as Wachovia. papee shd i?? but then i'd have 2 accts and 2 cards and i'd have to decide where i want my direct deposits of my paychecks to go. currently they go into Wachovia. (but i still can't use my ATM card cos i've no PIN, and i'm going home in 1 mth. how stupid)
they like to push responsibilities ard. i wanted to change this wk's off from Sat to Sun at first, then when Les said it's impossible, i asked Duane whether i cld change from Sat to Fri. and i told Mandy abt it earlier when she was in charge of my area 1 of the days too. so that's 3 supervisors i approached, and none cld give me a definite answer. so after days of "i'll check and let u know", there is STILL NO CONCLUSION. today Duane said i have off on fri, and i was happy. then a few hours later i asked what time i had to come in on sat and he gave me the blur look like nothing ever occured, and he said that off was for next wk. kns. and he said i told him too last min, and he cldn't change it since the schedule was alr out. wth?! he does the schedules and he can't change it? tt's damn lame la. and he's damn blur. so he said he'd let me know by tonight and i didn't see him for the rest of the day so everything's still hanging. i bet he'd just forget abt it again. they always do. every time i mention it to them they act like tt's the first time they're hearing of it. and tmr i'm off to potomac mills, so thurs will be the moment of truth. hopefully.
another example. rmb i said i wanted to order toys from the resale office? day 1 i was told the person was on leave, i'd have to check with Marie, ext xxx. day 2 marie just stepped out, somewhere in the park, so either i wait or come back another day. day 3 finally marie appears but she says it's not her business, have to check with cathy who's on leave this wk so can only come back next wk. wth?! i hope when i go back next next wk (cos next wk i'm travelling), they don't direct me to yet another person. i'm sick and tired of all that push ard nonsense.
i hate it when they give that retarded, slurred "huuh" when i say something and they don't catch it even after i repeat myself 4 times.
on to happier things. i met 2 cute lil girls who were fascinated with my mop bucket in the toilet today. they were standing there watching me mop haha.
all of a sudden i suspect the big round thing i've been looking at is actually the MOON rather than the SUN. i'm confused now :( cos on the bus back to dorm, look out the windows on the left and i see the sky blue and the full moon. look out the windows on the right and i see the red streaks of sunset. like HUH?! and when i was walking back from Kroger with Liu Jian and Hendra just now, i saw the full moon. big, round and bright. and totally round. was trying to spot werewolves too. heh. somehow on this trip i've been shopping more with guys than with girls. weird right? somehow it just feels better.
ooh wat made my day today was ICE CREAM. as always. i don't have a sweet tooth but i have a dessert tooth. haha. today Cold Stone Creamery had a tues special, which was 1 for 1 kids size self-creation for $2.20. so cheap right?! we could mix any of the ice cream flavours with 1 topping of our choice. so my first was choc and peach ice cream mixed with oreo cookies. second was choc, banana and strawberry ice cream with oreo cookies. yummy~ that was like my dinner. then i went to deliver ice cream for 2 other ppl in dorm, and went to Kroger. was very tired after tt, but aft bathing i got hungry so i just had a bowl of instant mee. it's made in USA!! haha.
today i talked to Philip and found out he lives on a farm. with abt a 100 cows. so interesting right?! he's 19 and studying business in university. but he prefers the city to the countryside and leaves on campus during school time. and he likes VA beach. so maybe i shd visit during the employee trips.
oh and today i had to clear shit from the outdoor shower cubicle. a lifeguard supervisor came in to inform me abt it when i was closing the waterworks restroom. and i wonder why she had to borrow and wear the security badge from the security guard in order to do tt. i noticed it, but i didn't think it had anything to do with me but when she went out of the restroom, the security guard said "so did it work?". i was puzzled. argh whatever man. i'm a responsible eco worker and i've had training picking dog shit so i just did it with a trash bag. altho the shit was pretty gross. hey i've trained my senses, now i can hold my breath for minutes. i do tt everytime i flush the toilet or change the sanitary bags and trash bags. and there isn't any kind of urine or shit i haven't seen. i just can't figure why they can't flush and why they can't discard their paper towels properly. oh wells.
it's 2.08am and i've gotta wake up at 7am tmr for my Potomac Mills trip so i better go soon. nites!
