After a week of all-time high, the mood's now on an all-time low. Despite doing better than expected for FYP. As I tried not to limp all the way back home in the cold, it kept occuring to me that if I ever get paralysed, I'd rather die. It's killing me inside that I've to deal with 3 ailments at the same time, and the latest one is affecting my mobility. I can no longer walk fast or chiong to school, not say to run. I never knew it'd affect me so much, but I should have known, since I'm used to walking fast. I can't even stand cycling slow. It's freaky how all sorts of weird problems keep happening to me 1 after another here and the only explanation I can think of is that I'm allergic to Beijing. Went for acupuncture today and tried electric stimulation coupled with infra-red for my foot, but yea miracles don't happen. The pain's still there. I've bought more TCM to add to my ever-growing arsenal. Someday my room might just turn into a pharmacy.
It must have been needle day cos we had blood test for intern and my blood clotted too fast for capillary action to suck it into the tube so I had to have another finger pricked. What a waste of blood. And somehow I have 2 bruises on my 2 fingertips where the holes were. Kns.
I miss the feeling of being fit and healthy :(

It's a frigging cold Christmas! I guess this is the coldest so far. It's now -9 deg outside but with wind the real feel is -16 deg :s The lift auntie said later tonight it's gonna be -13 deg! (Not factoring in the wind yet) Ok I better pile on another sweater before going out. Now I understand how wind can feel like "刺骨". Haha. The tragic thing is we're almost out of water, and being rigid as ever, we can only top up the water card once a month, but we're running low cos the washing machine broke down and wasted alot of water. Which means we don't have hot tap water now. Great. I'm so not going to bathe in cold water and risk hypothermia. KNS. Water rationing for 5-6 days!
Meanwhile here're some pics first to cheer myself up:
北海公园

I'm standing on ice! It's a frozen over lake in 后海 :D
Group 3 猪s with 小陈!
Merry Christmas!!! :)))

Merry Christmas 2009!
Eyes tearing, mucus dripping, ears hurting, sand in mouth and faced with the strongest inertia ever, I survived the wind storm! Ok it's actually quite common in Beijing, but this has to be the worst I've experienced so far. I had difficulty walking backwards cos the wind was blowing against me. And I actually had to dodge rubbish flying in the air and cling on to my bananas and zao gao haha. Realized that coats with hoods don't work cos the moment I lup it over my head, the wind blows it off, so from now on I promise to bring my ear muffs. My ears kinds hurt now :( Wind at 25-36mph is really no joke.
Anyway, here's wishing all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I never imagined I would feel this way, but the first Christmas overseas has been one of the happiest and most happening ever :)) I just hope I don't lose my voice or get a sore throat from the consecutive days of screaming, singing and cheering at the top of my lungs ;P Christmas party last night was superb, my group was high on chocolates, our performance went well and we just had fun being crazy, playing games, singing and cheering at every opportunity :D Then 5+ hours of ktv today, followed by camping at Macs till it became Christmas officially. What a wild week. No white christmas, but a windy and joyful one :)) Tomorrow (I mean today) is Christmas day, probably the last day of fun before we get down to serious mugging. It's been 2 weeks (already!) since the last exams and we're dreading the next bout, but there's no choice! In no time exams will be over, we'll be travelling, then home sweet home!
Woosh! Have fun everyone! No Xmas lightings for me this year, but at this moment I'm glad I'm here, celebrating in our own little ways :)
I can't believe it's gonna be 2010 soon.

It makes me happy to be able to inspire others :) Right now the very best advice I can give to anyone is to 知足常乐. To live a simple and happy life. It's possible- I've come to realize that after seeing real life examples :)
Everything feels better with a positive attitude :)
And if all else fails we still have each other!

China is turning me into a full-blown auntie. I spent 2 hours in carrefour just now. Then came home to hang clothes. It was such a tragedy when our washing machine broke down and we had to hand-wring my unwashed clothes to let them dry till they could be washed again when the machine was fixed. Our fingers almost dropped off due to the cold water and air. Thanks to our dear agent-friend we got the machine fixed in 2 days. Yips :)
Am looking forward to Christmas! Christmas cards, celebrations and all :)) Yay going for outing with our 推拿 intern-friend tmr, hope it'll be fun! :)) He's bringing us to some food street thingy, and you know how I can't resist food :D Which reminds me of tonight's dinner - we bought FISH!!! Marinated black pepper fish from Carrefour. Should be nice right? It's ironic how we can hiam that the frozen prawns are expensive and avoid buying them but grab packets of pocky mousse and milk tea without any hesitation. Lol. I've become such a junk bin.
The hot topic of conversation nowadays is the weather. The lift auntie never fails to chuckle and comment "觉得冷了吧?" when we return home. Checking daily forecasts has become a necessary habit. It's now about how far below zero the temperature drops. And the wind can kill. I'm really considering the ski mask ;) I wish we had a fireplace at home.

Spent the afternoon staring at X-rays and CT scans. Thank god for panadol. lol. I always wondered how people could make out anything from just shades of black, white and grey. Have got a much better idea now :)
Can I continue to procrastinate first? Am still suffering from post-exam refractory period. But I better get down to that thick Western Diagnostics text (in Chinese) soon. Yea, all cos it's in Chinese. The syllabus is almost over and the exams will be in 3 weeks' time. Woots. This course is nothing but a continuous marathon of crash courses. Wish I brought my Pathology text :(

This is really random but I suddenly came across the song that the guy was singing with his guitar in the train some weeks back. (Yeah, they have baskers in the train and all sorts of weird stuff) Why is my memory good for all the wrong things?!
And the other day on the way to school on a Sat/Sun morning I saw an old man shouting repeatedly at a tree in the park. Queer, but I bet he was training his qi or something and he must be 10 times fitter than me. Still amusing though.
I should really be studying. See that's why going to school is more productive.

Never thought I was a people person until it became unbearable mugging at home on weekends. It was total loneliness and sian-ness, stuck with no motivation and lots of stress and drifting thoughts. It was almost as good as living alone, cos my housemates were cooped up in their own rooms and we don't even eat together. Always thought I studied best alone, but I guess I left all my powers back in Singapore. Everybody seems more hardworking here, but somehow I'm the opposite :( But yay, now there's an unofficial study group in school, I have company! So now I practically have a 7-day work week :D Nothing to be happy about actually, but it beats trying to hibernate in a freezing home with practically nobody to talk and laugh with. It was super depressing and stressful. And the plus point is that there's free heating, water and toilet facilities in the hospital. So I save on bills!! Only things we lack are beds and bathing facilities. Else we'd just camp there 24/7 till the end of the exams. Plus we're trying to make friends with the security guards by bribing them with food so they'll lock up later :D
Ok i better get back to mugging soon. 2 more papers to go! Never thought I'd end up being so last minute, but heck, times have changed. I still think about the times I camped in SBS, in my friends' halls, and at Keppel Club. I miss the cheesecake there! And yuan yang at canteen A and the food at Tiong Bahru market. Must psycho myself not to start thinking about it or I'll just feel sad :(
Around 1.5 months left to go! [But I think I'll be bored back in SG :( ]
