went to hollywood cemetery, maymont park and byrd park today. was fun, but my legs are aching and my feet sore and blistery from walking the whole day. i think that was much more than 10 miles in total. wonder how i'm gonna survive 10 hours of work tmr and sun. and tmr is the launch of the dominator and the opening of the water park, so there's going to be ALOT of ppl. yikes. can imagine the toilets being so packed that i can't even enter. i hope i can remain on my feet throughout hahaha. am really getting all the exercise i've lacked the past 2 years!! met my 5 juniors at byrd park in the afternoon, and i felt lucky i didn't follow the big grp cos they got separated at carytown and did not know where yue you, yue hao and the rest were.
hollywood cemetery doesn't have hollywood celebs; more like US presidents and war heroes. i felt a sense of peace and tranquility, and it was nice taking a walk there in the late morning/early afternoon.
maymont park was nice, there was so much greenery and space all over. ppl were having picnics everywhere and the place was teeming with little children :) the lil tots are just so cute! wanted to have lunch at maymont and there was only a cafe there so we made our way there but it was closed for renovation :( and there wasn't anything to eat nearby so since we didn't have a car, we had to walk several streets back to near carytown where we found a little minimart selling fast food, da-baoed a burger and sub and had our lunch by the roadside opposite the third destrict police divison. (forgot the exact name) so we had our lunch at 3+pm, was starving and tired but survived :) managed to walk all the way back to byrd park, heard the girls shouting my name from across the lake and joined them to walk back to maymont park. the highlight for me was to see the baby bears but it was very disappointing cos i spotted no trace of any bear in the enclosure that said "keep a distance as animals are dangerous" or sth to tt effect. the park was going to close at 5pm so we had to rush and managed to see the children's farm with goats and peacocks and a couple of eagles, a tiny fox and the japanese garden. finally made our way back to the Hampton street entrance where we entered in the morning, and managed to find a bus after asking for directions. tt saved our feet. got back at 6+pm before dark and the rest of the big grp is still not back yet. it's 8.02pm now and i'm wondering wat i'll have for dinner.
went to carytown on wed (2 days ago). it's a pretty interesting little place, with unique little shops lining the streets. my fave was this choc and sweet shop with lots and lots of interesting chocs and sweets with never-seen-b4 funky packagings. planning to bring some back as gifts b4 i leave altho they're not cheap as they'll make pretty cool souvenirs :) will go back to carytown soon! took lotsa pics of that place, will post when i'm not feeling lazy. haha.
meanwhile i shall just worry abt my dinner tonite and work tmr. and i do hope i can have off on 3rd june, then i can go to DC :) and i do hope there'll be 54 ppl to fill the places or the trip will be cancelled. the weather here in richmond is good now, it's cool and windy yet sunny. and i rarely sweat even when i run or brisk walk. i took pics of many old victorian-style buildings and churches, and i can't really differentiate which is which haha. but the houses here are really pretty and big, and ppl often have a few big dogs in their front yard. the neighbourhood at carytown and esp maymont was quite quiet and peaceful so i guess richmond will be a good place to live in if ur old and wanna retire from the hustle and bustle of city life. i think i've walked across half of richmond already. heh.
ok the twins are finally back. i'm so tired i can hardly stand up. shall go make dinner now.
oh n i just realised im burnt again. lol.
