it's a good day today :)
started off well talking to shawn, a philosophy major who's been to SG!!! and he volunteered at Jamiyah children's home too. i had no idea how talking abt home cld lift my spirits so. and my conclusion of the day is that i'm food-sick, rather than homesick. haha. everybody who's been to SG will marvel at the amount of food that's available, at rather affordable prices too. in the space of 1 hr spent squeegy-ing the puddles b4 the waterpark opened, we talked abt everything from science and arts to american movies to navy seals (he's entering the military aft grad, hoping to become a navy seal cos it's his family's tradition to conscript and apparently there's a $40000 bonus if he successfully becomes a navy seal) to space, housing, the weather and of cos food! heh. it's just great talking to an ang moh who's been to SG, tried the fab food, experienced the predictable (hot) weather, sweated buckets and understands that it is so NOT part of china. and it's just so rare to find a local employee who's acty older than me, albeit only by 2 mths. he recommends the movie "tears of the sun" as it's the story of navy seals. lol. sadly he's gonna be a deep guard soon so i think tmr is his last day in ecology and aft the first hour today he was sent to rides. aiya, nobody else to speak english to who's nice. am pretty wary of chino, cos he's just plain scary. everyone agrees he has this 杀气 and it's creepy how he reminded me of the virginia tech killer when i first saw him. and every word he utters has to be accompanied by the f-word, which is pretty irritating acty.
the waterpark closed at 3pm today instead of the normal 6pm so we were separated into areas 1-3. it was cold today so there were few visitors to the park, much less to the waterpark. and it just had to be cold when i decided to wear shorts for the first time. ytd morn was cold and looked cloudy so i wore my long pants and ended up sweating in them the whole day when the sun came out at 11am. today looked the same so i wore my shorts and ended up freezing in the morning. and we went to try the rides instead of going to the canteen to eat, and i managed to try the "shockwave" b4 putting on my yellow shirt and chiong-ing to work. cos i was scheduled for 11am but the rides only started at 1030am and i took the bus at 915am, reaching at ard 10am. shockwave is like a standing-style roller coaster, and it was good. i was totally awake and alert aft the ride. just love the adrenalin rush and energy boost.
oh and i had a hearty breakfast, which contributed to my good mood :) i had a sausage with bread, and i made a NOTTY EGG successfully!!! now almost my entire floor is gonna follow my notty egg recipe in the mornings. so i had a notty egg btn 2 slices of bread. which gave a grand total of 3 slices of bread, 1 sausage and 1 egg. but i still got hungry at like 12 nn. -____- must be the cold la. and during break i chionged to sit the "volcano", which scared me to death, not cos the ride was so scary, but cos it made my specs almost fall off. so i was like grabbing on to them when the coaster went round in those 360 deg loops, twists and bends. kns man. can't imagine wat wld haf happened if i really dropped my specs. i'd be blind man. then aft tt i chionged to the canteen to gobble 2 slices of pizza and chionged back to work. haha. so exciting rite ;)
so when the waterpark closed i was assigned to sweep area 2 and 3, which was good cos i was like just basically patrolling the streets, enjoying the wind and looking at the toys which were prizes for the games in tt area. and of cos sweeping the floor haha. then i was sent to area 1(my old territory) for the last 2 hrs and it was no problem too cos i was familiar with the place and the supervisor was nice. tracy, rmb? the pretty and nice one :) she let me go at 6.15pm so i cld catch the 6.30pm bus. and it was relaxing cos there were few ppl so less work, less trash and cleaner toilets.
went for vietnamese food aft getting back to VCU. it's near our dorm, and we heard the food's good so we went. had a large bowl of pho (beef noodles) and a spring roll, and there was nice CHILLI. wah, finally chilli. ironic how the bottle said "made in USA" though. why is it so rare then? anyway, i'm really going broke. the pho cose 7.50 but add tax and tips and it became like 9.30. :( but the soup was just good la. i miss noodles and soup. and curry. and rice. and veggies.
shared a honeydew with cherie just now. just realised how expensive it is, $3 for a rather small one. but it was nice and sweet :) only downside is that my nice melamine plate got scratched by the knife =(
shall have notty egg with bread every morn from now on. i need to eat up my bread. and my jar of jam b4 i go home. hee.
washed clothes just now, but got brown spots on some of the stuff :( maybe overload, cos shared with a few other ppl so not clean.
nevertheless, today is a good day =) the lifeguards were off since 3pm so they went for the rides. my frens sat the anaconda, drop tower, the crypt, dominator and the backlot stunt coaster like twice each. i oso wan!!! dun care, tmr if got ppl pei me i will chiong too ;)
