The last patient that I saw of 脑一 on Monday (cos I went to the ASU to borrow his 病例) passed away yesterday morning. And cos I was at 门诊 all day yesterday, I only knew of his demise this morning when they did their shift-rotation report thingy. And I saw his death report in the computer today. Says he died of suspected 脑疝. I felt funny, or rather shocked cos I didn't know his condition was that serious although he was mostly unconscious and in the ASU. Still too sudden. It feels strange for me to be actually writing his 病例 now, cos I've never written one of someone who's already passed on. It's only been a week since he was hospitalised. A week ago he presented with stroke. I guess I just have to get used to the comings and goings (or passings) of patients. But this is the first death I've seen in this hospital, of a patient whose name I know, and whose son (I presume) asked me why he kept sleeping. I couldn't answer that so I just looked to the nurse haha. And apparently there's another seriously ill patient in the wards and one of the seniors predicted he'd last till Friday. I suppose if you don't make light of the situation you're weighing yourself down.

Anyway, it's a long story but today we discovered we were in the wrong department all along. According to the timetable, we're assigned to 神经内科 but it's split into "脑一" and "脑二", and it's only after a twist in the story that we realised we're supposed to be in 脑二 instead of 脑一 which we assumed and reported to on the first day. No wonder it seems they have no plan for us and we have the flexibility to follow whoever we want. Damn. At 脑二, though, I'm gonna have more responsibility. To do hospitalization records and have more interaction with the patients. I can't imagine myself being in charge of a patient. Lol. Exciting but stressful. Which means I'm gonna have to study more again haha. And write more 病例s -.- Definitely will learn more though :)

After following 院长 for his 门诊 twice, I think I can see why he's the 院长. Very personal and friendly. He gave me a good impression when he asked for our names at the very start though of course he won't remember them. And today he let us sit in his office and have a short chat with him. Haha. 当医生不能当官但我两个都当，难怪两个都当不好。 He says he likes clinical work cos he gets to see so many cute patients. How cute :)

神内，a department to be reckoned with. The past few (and current) 院长s are all from 神内 haha. Next week will be taxing yet rewarding. I hope. Internship's really much more tiring than having lessons cos u don't get to sleep on the job. I'm sleeping earlier and earlier. Haha.
