And so I'm back from the land of Terra Cotta warriors. The highlight of such a leisurely trip must be 华山, and though it killed my legs, I'm proud to say we conquered the highest peak! In light snow! Tiring, cold and torturous, I had to keep reminding myself, "吃得苦中苦,方为人上人". LOL. So we dragged ourselves up the countless steep, narrow, scary steps, singing at times to boost our morale, cursing our waning fitness and hoping for any peak to appear. And when we finally reached the peak, we realized it was the highest. Haha. Cool stuff. My legs are aching now - thighs, calves and feet, but I've been through worse years ago so this is still ok! Though I still feel grannified, that I've aged way beyond my years and am in no shape to climb any more mountains.
It's almost 4am. I better go sleep so that I can wake up to wash clothes and go out! There's an agenda! One new observation is that Beijing is really more fun than Xi'an, which is such a sleepy and boring little city in comparison, although the streets are filled with people even on a weekday afternoon. Their stuff is surprisingly more expensive too. But I love the weather there. Cool and comfortable, unlike Beijing's biting wind and cold. Piccies next time!
